My name is Michael Gu. I am a 8th grader at Ashbrook Independent School. My favorite activities are piano and math. In piano, I have won several competitions, including going to nationals in the Music Teachers National Association Competition, and winning first in the Mozart Players Concerto Competition. I played with the Mozart Players, a chamber orchestra in Eugene during a concert. I have had masterclasses with John Perry, Conrad Tao, Jacque Depres, Jon Kimura Parker, Alan Chow, and Ory Shihor, the director of the Colburn Music Academy in Los Angelos. I am aiming to go to the Cleveland International Competitions, which they only choose the top 10 kids 12-14 in the whole world. I am also applying for the Aspen Festival, and I if I get in, I might get a chance to study with a teacher from Juliard.
